Get ready to travel: how?

In three steps, you can make your Shuttel card ready to travel: (1) Activate your Shuttel card, (2) pick up your travel products, and (3) Activate additional services. Below, we will explain step-by-step how you can do this.

Step 1: Activate your Shuttel card

You can activate your Shuttel card in your personal environment at mijn.shuttel.nl or via the Shuttel App. Create an account if you have not done so before. This is how you do that:

  1. Go to mijn.shuttel.nl or download/open the Shuttel App for iPhones or Android devices
  2. Click “Then click here” in the blue text field.
  3. Enter your business email address and click “Confirm”. We will send you an email with a password reset link.
  4. Click the link in the email.


Enter your desired password twice. Under the GDPR guidelines, your password must comply with several requirements. It must contain a special character and consist of at least six characters, among other things.

After creating a password, activate your card as follows:

  1. Log on to mijn.shuttel.nl.
  2. Go to “My details”.
  3. Click the activation button next to “Shuttel card”.
  4. Enter the last four digits of your card and click “Activate”.

Your travel products will be ready within two hours of activating your card (see step 2 below).

Your travel products will be ready within two hours of activating your card. You only have to load them onto your card. To do this, you have to go to an OV service point, which you can find at public transportation stations as well as a range of retailers, such as some supermarkets and bookstores. Click here to find your nearest OV service point.

At the OV service point, hold your card in front of the card reader and press “Pick up order”. The machine will ask you to hold your card in front of the card reader once again. That’s all! You can use your card in all public transportation modes immediately after picking up your travel products, without having to charge any credit to the card.

Tip: The travel products will not be available indefinitely. They will be waiting for you for four months after you activate your card. Make sure to pick them up at an OV service point within four months after activation.

Did you forget and still need to pick up your travel products after four months? No worries, just send us an email at advies@shuttel.nl. We will prepare the travel products for pick-up for you.

Shuttel means you have just one card for virtually every means of transportation. Catching a train, using a shared car or bicycle, filling up or charging your car: we have the widest offering of transportation modalities in the Netherlands. Depending on your arrangements with your employer, you will have access to additional services. Go to the Shuttel App or your personal environment under “My details” to see which ones.
